AUDIO QUALITY & PRICING
If all you want is a song written for someone, I’ll provide lyrics and a simple mini-disc recording of vocal and guitar for $699. You may just want a song written because you have that amazing Irish tenor in the family that happens to have a recording studio, etc... but if you're interested in having the song recorded, there are a variety of ways to do so, making the price range fairly wide. We have put a pricing structure together to allow you to assemble what you would like on your recording. If you'd rather just have the type of recordings that are represented on this site, we have provided rough totals for those as well.
(please note: each recording style begins with the base price of $699 to write the song, as mentioned above)
Recording Style 1
Recording Style 1 includes a simple recording with myself singing ($99) and my own guitar playing ($99). I can also do some light mixing and mastering ($99). An example of this style can be found on Lee’s page.
rough total: $999
Recording Style 2
Recording style 2 is a more time consuming method. The enhancements would include those described in recording style 1, as well as the option of having Allison, Laura or Jeannie sing the melody for you ($149). You could also have Drew add his guitar embellishments ($149). An example of this can be heard on Cassandra’s page.
rough total: $1299
Recording Style 3
I have just finished a brand new recording that incorporates a pop arrangement of a song I recently wrote for a young boy named Devin. This style of recording includes all the elements previously mentioned in recording style 2 and 3, as well as synthesized bass and drums ($149 for each). Allison, Jeannie & Laura also added their signature three part harmony to it ($149). The track also underwent enhanced mixing & mastering ($149). For an example of this style of recording, please visit Devin’s page.
rough total: $1749
Recording Style 4
I can also make the song "ready for radio" with full Veltz family participation if you have the desire and budget for that. Recording at a state-of-the-art studio would be cost prohibitive for most people, but can be arranged and will be determined on a per project basis. These prices will be subject to studio availability and how elaborate the arrangement is. For an example of this visit Shea’s page.
OWNERSHIP
As a rule, I will retain 100% of the author and publishing rights to the commissioned song. And I reserve the right to include the song in our stage performance and possibly release it on one of our upcoming album projects.
I would consider sharing portions or even ALL of those potential residuals but the commission price will be very substantially higher and would require further conversation. For some, full ownership may be attractive. It could lead to establishing a trust fund where royalty payments could lead to provision for things like college educations, etc. Those decisions will be handled on a per project basis and I'll be happy to explain the details involved.
DISCLAIMER
As mentioned, my writing is driven by inspiration and not just skill. If I'm not inspired I WILL NOT pull out a thesaurus and pop out a cute little melody just to make the commission. My pride in my own song writing is your guarantee that I will not allow a cheaply written song to ever bear my name. In the event that you have secured commissioning me with a deposit I will gladly return it, if after an appropriate amount of time I feel I am not able to deliver a song that meets the standard I require for myself.
